Cape Media and the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening media collaboration and public engagement through a strategic knowledge-sharing session aimed at enhancing public awareness on tax matters and national development initiatives.
The engagement, held on Friday, June 19, 2026, brought together representatives from both organizations for an immersive programme focused on fostering mutual understanding, information exchange, and effective public communication.
During the session, KRA provided an overview of the Electronic Tax Invoice Management System (eTIMS), outlining its progress, opportunities, and implementation challenges.
Participants also explored taxpayer education initiatives and discussed the role of media organizations in supporting public understanding of tax administration and compliance.
KRA representatives highlighted the importance of accurate, timely, and accessible information in promoting voluntary tax compliance and building public trust.
They emphasized that media platforms play a vital role in connecting institutions with citizens by translating complex policy and administrative matters into relatable and understandable content.
Speaking during the engagement, Head of TV, Macharia Wamugo, expressed optimism about the opportunities that could emerge from closer collaboration between media and public institutions.
“As a media house, we believe informed citizens make better decisions. This engagement has provided valuable insights into KRA’s operations and taxpayer education initiatives. We are optimistic about the potential for greater collaboration in ensuring important public information reaches Kenyans in a clear, accurate, and impactful manner,” said Wamugo.
