Emirates is recruiting a Cargo Officer – Kenya to support its cargo operations in Nairobi.

The role involves coordinating day-to-day cargo activities, supervising operational processes, dealing with cargo documentation and resolving operational issues while maintaining Emirates SkyCargo standards.

Job Summary

The Cargo Officer will help ensure efficient cargo operations and quality customer service.

The position involves working with ground handling agents and other operational teams to ensure cargo is handled safely, efficiently and according to company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for duties including:

• Planning and coordinating cargo operational activities.
• Monitoring services provided by ground handling agents.
• Resolving cargo delays, disruptions and mishandling issues.
• Reviewing and compiling cargo documentation.
• Ensuring post-flight activities are completed accurately.
• Responding to customer queries, complaints and claims.
• Maintaining cargo systems and producing operational reports.
• Supervising cargo operations when required.
• Supporting and training operational staff.
• Deputising for the Cargo Manager when required.

Qualifications and Experience

Emirates lists the following requirements:

• Degree-level education or equivalent with at least 2 years’ experience in a cargo operations environment, including at least 1 year as a Senior Cargo Agent with previous team-leading experience and supervisory training.

OR

• A-Level or equivalent education with at least 5 years’ experience in cargo operations, including at least 3 years as a Senior Cargo Agent with previous team-leading experience.

Applicants should also have knowledge of areas such as:

• Dangerous Goods regulations
• Advanced Load Control
• Weight & Balance procedures
• Live Animal Regulations
• Microsoft Word and Excel
• Cargo operations systems
• Analytical and numeracy skills

Fluency in English and the language of the country of employment is also required.
