The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) is recruiting a Financial Planning and Analysis Accountant to join its team in Nairobi.
The position will provide institute-wide support in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, business intelligence and financial decision analysis.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will help ILRI turn financial and operational information into useful insights for decision-making.
The role includes financial modelling, management reporting, budget analysis, forecasting, cost recovery analysis and improving financial reporting processes.
Key Responsibilities
The Financial Planning and Analysis Accountant will be responsible for areas including:
- Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual management reports
- Developing financial performance indicators and dashboards
- Conducting budget and variance analysis
- Preparing financial forecasts and scenario models
- Supporting the annual budgeting process
- Reviewing budgets for accuracy and completeness
- Preparing financial models and decision-support reports
- Supporting reporting automation and process improvement
- Presenting financial information to finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Supporting cost recovery and resource allocation analysis
Qualifications and Experience
According to ILRI, applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a relevant field
- A relevant professional qualification such as CPA (K) or ACCA
- At least 6 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience in financial analysis, reporting and financial modelling
- At least 3 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence and reporting automation
- Experience with AI-enabled analytics and visualization platforms such as Power BI and Tableau
- Advanced knowledge of computerized accounting software
- Strong analytical, presentation and communication skills
Experience with databases such as MySQL or SQL Server is an added advantage.
