About the Position
The Community Oral Health Officer will be responsible for providing preventive, promotive and basic curative oral health services, particularly in community and rural settings.
The successful candidate will work to ensure that patients receive quality oral healthcare while maintaining acceptable professional and operational standards.
Academic Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- A Diploma or Degree in Community Oral Health from a recognised institution.
- Registration with a valid licence from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- At least 2 years of post-internship experience.
- A Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.
- Experience in community outreach programmes, school dental health programmes or mobile dental clinics is an added advantage.
- Strong clinical knowledge of dental hygiene, oral health and infection prevention and control.
- Computer skills, particularly in Health Management Information Systems.
Key Skills and Competencies
The successful applicant should demonstrate:
- Ability to perform basic dental procedures such as examinations, extractions, prophylaxis and fluoride application.
- Knowledge of oral disease prevention and health education.
- Community mobilisation skills.
- Good problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, especially when working with rural or underserved communities.
