I’ve been married to my husband for six years. We have two children together, and until recently, I believed we had a normal marriage.
My husband works in another city, about four hours away. Because of his job, he only comes home on weekends. At first it was difficult, but we adjusted. I trusted him completely.
Last month something strange happened.
One evening I called him around 9 PM like I usually do. A woman picked up the phone.
I immediately hung up because I thought I had dialed the wrong number. A few minutes later, my husband called me back asking why I had called.
I asked him who answered his phone.
He laughed and said it must have been one of his coworkers joking around.
I believed him.
But something about the situation didn’t sit right with me.

My husband has been living there with that woman for four years. They also have two children together.
Four years.
That means he started that second family while we were already married.
When I confronted him, he said something that shocked me.
He said, “I didn’t want to lose either of you.”
Right now I feel like my entire life has been a lie.
I don’t even know what hurts more… the betrayal, or the fact that he was able to live two completely different lives for years.
I haven’t told my family yet.
I’m confused and angry, and I don’t know what to do.
