I’m still trying to process what happened because everything feels like a nightmare.
My best friend and I have known each other since high school. She was the one person I trusted with everything. She knew my secrets, my fears, and every detail about my relationship.
I’ve been dating my boyfriend for three years.
I even introduced him to her because I wanted the two most important people in my life to get along.
And they did.
Maybe a little too well.
About two months ago, my best friend started acting distant. She stopped answering my calls and barely replied to my messages.
I thought maybe she was going through something personal.
Then one evening she called me and said she needed to tell me something important.
Her voice was shaking.
She told me she was pregnant.
I was actually excited for her at first. I started asking questions about the father and how she was feeling.
Then she said something that made my whole body go cold.
She said my boyfriend was the father.
At first I thought she was joking.
But she started crying and apologizing over and over again.
Apparently, it happened one night when I was out of town visiting my family. She said they had both been drinking and one thing led to another.
She said it only happened once.
I confronted my boyfriend immediately.
He didn’t deny it.
He just kept saying he made a mistake and that he still loves me.
Now both of them are begging for forgiveness.
My best friend says she regrets everything and doesn’t want to lose our friendship.
My boyfriend says he wants to stay with me and raise the baby responsibly.
I feel like I’ve been betrayed by the two people I trusted the most.
Part of me wants to cut both of them out of my life forever.
But another part of me feels completely lost.
I honestly don’t know what to do.
