Job Summary
The Porter will provide reliable porter, sample transportation and general operational support to the NGS Unit.
The role involves ensuring the safe and timely movement of laboratory samples, documents, supplies and other materials.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Collect and transport NGS samples from the hospital laboratory to the NGS Unit.
- Deliver documents, samples, supplies and other materials to designated locations.
- Run authorised errands for the NGS Unit.
- Support the movement and distribution of supplies and materials.
- Assist with receiving and delivering routine Unit supplies.
- Help prepare and set up meetings, training sessions, workshops and other Unit activities.
- Perform basic administrative and logistical duties as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient, laboratory and institutional information.
- Follow hospital, laboratory, safety and infection-prevention procedures.
- Report delays, discrepancies, incidents or operational concerns promptly.
- Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A minimum of KCSE or an equivalent qualification.
- Ability to follow instructions and established procedures accurately.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work responsibly in a healthcare environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Additional training in porter services, healthcare support, customer service or a related area is an added advantage.
Previous experience in a hospital, laboratory, healthcare or institutional environment is preferred.
